(This article expired 30.06.2020.)

On November 22-23, the Embassy in cooperation with Alliance Francaise and the Center of European Studies of the oldest and most prestigious Chulalongkorn University in Thailand organized two commemorative concerts of young talented pianist Matyáš Novák, who played a combination of Czech (Smetana, Dvořák, Ježek) and foreign composers (Lizst, Debussy, Gounod, Donizetti).

Both concerts, attended by 150 and 250 spectators respectively, commemorated the importance of the year 1989 for modern history and the fundamental role of the person of Vaclav Havel in this process. Concerts were accompanied by the installation of the exhibitions "1989 As Seen By Photographers" and "Václav Havel in a Nutshell".

The concert at Chulalongkorn University was also part of the eleventh edition of the Bangkok International Piano Festival, as well as a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of President Havel's visit to Chulalongkorn University during his state visit to Thailand in 1994. Seven photographs commemorating Václav Havel´s meeting with His Majesty King Rama IX. were also exhibited.
