Czech Band Mirai impressed Chinese audience during Walk Through Czech Culture event

On the 19th of September, the Czech Embassy in Beijing organized a garden party  "WALK THROUGH CZECH CULTURE“. This year the cultural highlight was a live concert by one of the most popular Czech bands - MIRAI.

The party took inspiration from classic Czech beer gardens with Czech beer on tap and Czech culinary specialities prepared by the Embassy chef Tomáš Veselý.

Visitors enjoyed an exhibition prepared by Czech-China Contemporary Art Museum (CCC) – sculptures from contemporary sculptor Mr. Pan Kai in the garden of the Embassy and paintings on silk by Mrs. A Qin Kunying Straka in the hall of the Czech residence. Czech design studio Modernista and famous chair manufacture TON presented their furniture pieces. Exhibition was accompanied by examples of well-known Czech glass makers Preciosa, Egermann and Halama.

The highlight of the whole evening was  the concert of the winners of the most prestigious Czech pop-music awards, the darlings of today´s Czech young generation, the music band MIRAI. The front man, singer and a guitarist Mirai Navrátil with other members of the band Šimon Bílý (the drummer), Michal Stulík (the bass-player) and Tomáš Javůrek (the guitarist) prepared one hour-long acoustic concert. MIRAI  managed to gain fans even in a culturally-different and geographically-distant China.

Around 400 guests came that evening; Czech expats, diplomats,  Chinese media and Chinese friends of the Czech Republic.  The event was a part of celebration of the 70th anniversary of Czech-China diplomatic relations and was sponsored by SKODA Auto – the Czech company with 125 years old tradition.

Walk Through Czech Culture is already the third edition of a popular end-of-the summer event organized by Czech Embassy in Beijing.
