The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing participated in the 26th Beijing International Book Fair between 21st to 26th August. During opening ceremony Mrs. Ivana Grollová, Deputy Head of Mission and representatives of Home Credit company presented series of achievements to Chinese readers, such as newly launched children’s book Odd Sock Eaters by Pavel Šrút (writer) and Galina Miklínová (illustrator), translations of  Czech writer Zdeněk Svěrák (Film stories) and  book about Franz Kafka by Radek Malý.

From the Czech publishers, Albatros participated in the BIBF 2019.

In addition to the books, typical Czech products - Bino (Krtecek), Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth and Caesar (crystal glass) were presented at the Czech booth.  

As part of accompanying program of the fair, the Embassy of the Czech Republic participated also in BIBF - Gourmand section. During cooking class sponsored by Czech kitchenware producer Tescoma, the specialities of Czech cuisine prepared by Embassy´s chef Tomáš Veselý were presented.

On the sidelines of the BIBF 2019, the Bedřich Smetana Czech-China Friendship Piano Concert, co-organized with Czech-Chinese Cultural and Art Association, took place at the Czech Ambassador Residence. During the concert, four young Chinese pianist, previous prize winners of Smetana International Piano Competition, played the music of Bedřich Smetana and Frederic Chopin.
