Czech Days in 2018. Off to South China!

In 2018 the Embassy of the Czech Republic is organizing a series of activities titled Czech Days, which will continue to support business, investment, culture and tourism exchanges and cooperation between the Czech Republic and China. This year the “Czech Days in Greater Bay Area, Fujian and Hainan” will focus on the southern part of China – that is Guangdong, Fujian and Hainan provinces as well as on Hong Kong and Macao as they are located in the greater Pearl River Delta. As 2018 marks the 100th anniversary since founding Czechoslovakia, the “Czech Days in Greater Bay Area 2018” will be also commemorating the history and achievements of our past. Activities will highlight the history of Czech industry in contrast with today's modern technologies. Other activities will introduce the Czech culture, design as well as cooperation in the field of advanced technologies, research and education (part of an international campaign “Study in the Czech Republic”)

Celebrations of 100th Anniversary since founding Czechoslovakia will constitute an important part of Czech Days in 2018. Commercial focused activities including participation at several trade shows such as the Zhuhai Airshow, China Hi-Tech Fair in Shenzhen or Hong Kong Medical Devices and Supplies Expo will hence present the history of Czech industry in contrast with modern technologies of today. Another important milestone will be the China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen where investment activities between the Czech Republic and China will be at display.

China International Gift and Home Product Fair in Shenzhen, Czech Crystal Night in Hong Kong and Macau or Guangzhou Design Week will present Czech design and consumer goods products. Study exchange and university cooperation between the Czech Republic and China will be further strengthened though a series of events including Hong Kong Education Expo in early 2018 and China Education Expo Guangzhou held in October.

Czech Days in the Greater Pearl River Delta will officially launch with the opening ceremony on March 9, 2018 in Guangdong Provincial Museum of Guangzhou where from November 25, 2017 to March 25, 2018 Czech "A. Mucha and the Others" exhibition is open to the general public.

About the Czech Days

The already 4th year of Czech Days aims to promote the Czech Republic in China in the areas of economy, culture, education and tourism. The Czech Days started in Shanghai in 2015. A year later activities moved to Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province. In 2017, Czech Days, the so-called Czech Year on Belt and Road took place on the new Silk Road including the cities of Xi’an and Chengdu.

Embassy of the Czech Republic in China is the main organizer of the Czech Days in cooperation with the Czech China Chamber of Collaboration. Relevant ministries and agencies of the Czech Republic such as CzechTrade, CzechInvest and CzechTourism are important co-organizers of the events. Main partners of Czech Days are key Czech companies in China, Škoda Auto and Home Credit. Other partners include Huawei, Alpine Pro and Preciosa. This year, Lobkowicz and Kolby will also join the partner portfolio and become the event partners throughout the year.
