The Embassy of the Czech Republic to China organises in 2019 the fifth series of events called Czech Days. The activities are moving from the Pearl River Delta, where they were taking place last year, to the north-eastern region of China called Dongbei (Czech Days in Dongbei). It specifically regards the provinces: Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang. The activities will be focused on engineering, technical fields, agricultural products and winter sports that are becoming increasingly popular due to the organization of the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022. Major attention will be given also to education, to the Study in the Czech Republic Project. An integral part of the series of events will be the celebration of the 70-year anniversary of Czech-Chinese diplomatic relations.

In 2019, the fifth year of Czech Days activities will take place in the north-eastern region of China, namely Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, following up on previous years activates and striving to promote the Czech Republic in the areas of economy, culture, education and tourism. North-eastern region of China is not only a historical sight of early Czechoslovakia´s days in China, but also a centre of engineering or a winter sports centre.

Heilongjiang province used to be the site of the first Czechoslovak legions in China and the seat of the first foreign consulates in China. Nowadays, it is known worldwide for its Ice and Snow Festival. The Czech Republic aims to participate in this festival and in one of the three Alpine Ski Orienteering Races that will take place in Heilongjiang´s Yabuli Ski Resort. The joint effort of the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic and several relevant ministries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, will be to negotiate the placement of the Czechoslovak legions memorial plaque in Harbin and initiate the restoration of the former Czechoslovak Consulate in Harbin.

In January, the Beidahu Ski Resort of Jilin province will host another race of the Alpine Ski Orienteering, introducing Czech ski equipment manufacturers such as Sporten, Lusti and Alpine Pro. The Czech Republic will present itself at the event as one of the winter sports cradles and, above all, a cradle of major athletes and Olympians. In August, Czech companies led by Pardubice Region, the partner region of Jilin Province, will participate in the North East Asia Expo in Changchun.

In Liaoning province, a visa seminar will take place early in the year to mark the opening of the Czech visa centre in Shenyang. In June, the Czech Republic will take part in the 5th Working Meeting of the Association of Regional Leaders of the 17+1 Platform and subsequently at the World Economic Forum in Dalian in early July. At the end of July, Czech beer producers will come do Dalian to take part at the famous Dalian Beer Festival and to introduce their beer as well as traditional Czech beer culture and cuisine. The event will take place as part of a project to promote economic diplomacy.

The celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Czech-Chinese diplomatic relations will also play an important role throughout the Czech Days activities. Czech Republic will remind itself of the important anniversary through a number of cultural, sports and business meetings,. The celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations will begin with the state reception, which will take place on the visit of President of the Czech Republic Mr. Miloš Zeman to China in April 2019. The festivities will then continue with the Czech Statehood Day at the Beijing (Horticultural) Expo and culminate with the State Reception on October 28th, 2019.
