Czech Expert on International Relations Ivana Karásková delivered a lecture at the Embassy to Chinese Students of Czech Studies

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing hosted a lecture  by Ivana Karásková on the subject "The Mole meets the Panda: Current Czech-China Relations”. The event organized for Chinese students of Czech Studies was opened by Klára Jurčová, the Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy. Around 90 students from Beijing International Studies University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, and Hebei GEO University participated in the event.
 

During the presentation on November the 13th Mrs. Ivana Karásková focused on three areas: China's image in the Czech Republic and Europe, the differences between the Czech Republic/Europe and China, and the current opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of Czech-Chinese relations. The main purpose of the lecture was to deepen the understanding of the students on Czech-China relations and different concepts of culture, politics or ideology. Furthermore, Mrs. Karásková introduced her research project ChinfluenCE mapping Chinese political and economic influence in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland. A lively debate with students took place after the presentation.

While in Beijing, Ivana Karásková also presented the ChinfluenCE project as part of an event co-organized with the Foreign Correspondents Club of China (FCCC) at the Embassy. Ms. Karaskova is an analyst at the Research Center of the Association for International Affairs (AMO) and lecturer at the Charles Universityon.
