Czech language students celebrated Christmas at the Embassy

For the first time the Czech Embassy in Beijing organized a Christmas celebration for Czech language students from several universities. First year undergraduate students from Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang together with their teachers spent an afternoon at the Embassy. Gingerbread decorating was selected as the best way how the students can get to know more about Czech Christmas traditions.

Deputy Ambassador Ms Klara Jurcova and Educational Diplomat Mr Ondrej Wagner welcomed over 60 students at the Embassy.  For the majority of them this was the first time they could experience Christmas festivities. Later on in their studies they will all spend one academic year in Czech Republic. Czech Language is currently being taught at 5 universities in 4 cities across China. In addition to Beijing, the traditional centre of Czech Studies, Czech Language is now also offered in Tianjin or Chongqing.  In 2018 we expect additional 4 Universities to launch Czech Studies.

Teaching Czech language in China would not be possible without the personal commitment of the Czech teacher, close cooperation between Czech and Chinese universities and financial contribution from the Czech Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs.
