Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies 2022

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing informs about Czech language scholarship courses within the Summer School of Slavonic Studies 2022. Those interested in the course are requested to send their applications to beijing@embassy.mzv.cz no later than April 12, 2022.

Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies are study courses organized by several public universities in the Czech Republic. Courses are held annually during the summer months (July, August, September). Their duration ranges from 3 to 4 weeks. The length of the course is determined by the organizing school.

Within the framework of their educational units, individual organizing schools offer the Czech language courses at various levels of proficiency, selective seminars focused on the Czech literature, culture and history, leisure activities including theater, music and dance performances, excursions, sightseeing tours, etc. 

The courses are designed for foreign students, specialists (teachers, translators, interpreters) and academics in the field of the Czech and Slavonic studies who are over 18 years of age. The courses are, however, open to all those interested in the Czech language, literature, history, and culture.

The following Czech universities organize courses in 2022 for those interested from China:

  • Charles University in Prague (July 22 - August 19, 2022) - 2 scholarship places
  • Masaryk University in Brno (23.07.-20.08.2022) - 1 scholarship place
  • Palacky University in Olomouc (16.07.-14.08.2022) – 1 scholarship place

The scholarship includes:

  • board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and lodging;
  • registration and tuition fees;
  • trips and excursions organised within the framework of the course curriculum;
  • some Summer Schools provide also a public transport pass (cf. please the SSSS information materials below).

The scholarship does not include:

  • expenses for international transport;
  • insurance costs;
  • visa processing costs.

The application includes a statement by the applicant that he/she can participate in the course activities during the entire period of the respective Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies course.

In addition to the completed application form, it is also required to send:

  • a CV written in Czech or English;
  • a motivation letter written in Czech or English;
  • a scanned copy of passport.

The application with attachments must be sent in electronic form to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing no later than April 12, 2022. Applications must be sent to beijing@embassy.mzv.cz.

Participation Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies 2022 as a self-payer

Those interested can also apply for admission to the Summer School of Slavonic Studies 2022 courses as self-payers who will cover all the relevant expenses themselves. Information on this option is available on the websites of relevant schools.
