The Diversity Week 2019 at the Czech Embassy

In connection to the International Day against Homophobia (IDAHOT), EU countries in Beijing joined forces and organized a 10-day program called Diversity Week. Held for the first time, the aim was to draw attention to discrimination of sexual minorities and to enable a joint dialogue on related issues. The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing hosted a panel discussion on coming out and tolerance at home, work place and school.
 

On May 20th, The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing hosted a panel discussion with scholars, family members and civic society. During the event titled „Coming out and families” talks focused on overcoming misunderstandings and family acceptance, as well as the acceptance at work or in the school setting.

Ambassador Vladimír Tomšík welcomed over 60 guests at the Czech Embassy. This event was co-organized with PFLAG China. Diversity Week was created as an initiative of several EU countries. Apart from the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Romania or Ireland participated.
