Prague-Beijing Partnership in Action: Mayor Adriana Krnacova visited Beijing and supported Czech activities in Tianjin

At the beginning of August, Mayor of Prague Adriana Krnacova visited the capital city of Beijing and the nearby metropolis of Tianjin to support further development of relations between the capitals, especially the cooperation of the Emergency Medical Service of Prague with Chinese colleagues.
 
During the trip, she held talks with the mayor of Beijing. Moreover, Prague Mayor discussed collaboration with the Beijing Zoo and attended the opening ceremony of the Czech restaurant of “Vltava” in Beijing.

At the beginning of the visit to Beijing, Mayor Krnacova met with the leadership of the Beijing Family Planning and Health Commission and took part in a joint forum dedicated to the training of Chinese medical experts. This project is carried out successfully for the second year. Chinese medical specialists have the opportunity to experience training under the guidance of Prague rescue team and gain valuable knowledge on procedures in crisis situations. The highlight of the exercise was the training of mass disaster conditions in the Olympic park. The collaboration should strengthen the capability of Chinese rescue workers before the next Winter Olympics in 2022. Besides, the assistance is included in the bilateral cooperation plan under the Belt and Road initiative.

Mayor Krnacova visited the Beijing Zoo, where she spoke with the local director about the ongoing cooperation between the zoos. The Mayor reiterated the wish to place panda in the Prague Zoo. During the following tour, she could observe rare species of operetta and macaque.

 

The crucial part of the visit to Beijing was the negotiations with the Beijing Mayor and the subsequent working dinner. During the debate, both sides talked about the cooperation in healthcare, smart cities, historic preservation, sports, and culture. The meeting was also attended by an advisor to the Mayor M. Hanc, the special representative of the Minister of Health J. Ruzicka and the Director of the Medical Rescue Service of the Capital City of Prague.

In Tianjin, Ms. Krnacova visited the city's rescue service center, which annually provides its services to tens of thousands of patients. Tianjin rescuers, as well as their colleagues from Beijing and Shanghai, are being trained by Prague rescue team with the support of Home Credit China, which has its headquarters in Tianjin. During the meeting with Mayor Krnacova Deputy Mayor of Tianjin, Cao Xiaohong expressed support to the whole project. The Deputy Mayor appreciated the current level of Czech-Chinese cooperation in the field of health and expressed an interest to establish deeper contacts also in sport and education. Furthermore, the Deputy Mayor welcomed activities of the Czech restaurant in Tianjin - “Prague Restaurant”.

 

At the end of her visit, Mayor Krnacova attended the opening ceremony of a new Czech restaurant in the center of Beijing called “Vltava”, where guests can enjoy classic Czech cuisine and excellent beer.

The Czech Embassy in Beijing took advantage of the presence of the Medical Emergency Service Team of Prague and organized a half-day first aid training for its staff.
