Chinese Journalists visited the 60th International Enginnering Fair

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beijing has on the occasion of the three anniversaries – 60th International Engineering Fair, 90th anniversary of the establishment of the BVV Trade Fairs Brno, 100th anniversary since founding Czechoslovakia – organised an incoming mission of two Chinese journalists (China Trade News a China Industry News) to the International Engineering Fair in Brno. The purpose of the mission was to raise the image and public knowledge not only to the International Engineering Fair, but to the Czech engineering industry and Czech industrial exports to China as such. The mission was organised as a project of economic diplomacy with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Trade Fairs Brno.

The Jubilee 60th International Engineering Fair was held in the spirit of the 100th anniversary celebrating the founding of Czechoslovakia. The partner country of this year’s fair thus could be nobody else but Slovakia. The Fair organizers have prepared the 100RIES exhibition introducing Czechoslovak industrial tradition as well as stories of Czechoslovak industrial legends, including Tatra, Škoda, Zetor tractor and many others, the first products of Czechoslovakia - China bilateral trade exchange, which are still to be found in nowadays China.

The journalists visited the 100RIES Exhibition as part of a convoy accompanying Prime Ministers of the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Slovakia´s National Exposition. They also attended a press conference of the members of the Czech government and met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr. Miloslav Stašek. Last but not least, they attended seminar of the Guizhou Province, which introduced the cooperation possibilities between Guizhou and the Czech Republic.

An essential part of the program of journalists were meetings with Czech engineering companies actively exporting to China, such as TOS Varnsdorf, ŽĎAS, TOS Hulín, Hestego and others. From the Association of Engineering Technology they learned about the beginnings of Czech engineering industry as well as about engineering exports to China and their current trends. In recent years, China as well as other countries have created demand for large sophisticated and mostly tailored machines. To design such machines, companies need to invest more into research and development, which has to in line with the current trends of robotization, automation, digitization and electro mobility. And that is where cooperation possibilities exist in. The Czech Republic is able to provide capacities as well as a unique know-how in this area, China, on the other hand, means to support the research and development.

The International Engineering Fair is the most famous industrial fair in Central Europe.
