Economic diplomacy in practice: Successful promotion of Czech companies during 2020 national holiday

On October 22, 2020, in Hotel St Regis the successful promotion of Czech Companies and the solemn commemoration of the establishment of an independent state took place. This important social event - marking the 102 anniversary of an independent Czechoslovak state – focused on supporting the business of Czech companies in the Chinese market, which is beginning to revive here in China after managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The evening promotion of Czech companies and the social event preceded by a morning marketing event in support of Czech beer in China and a press conference on Czech cuisine and Czech drinks (focusing on targeted distribution of Czech beer on the Chinese market). Another press conference took place before the evening program started.

The evening program was opened with the Czech and Chinese national anthems followed by speeches given by the Czech Ambassador Vladimír Tomšík and  the main Chinese guest - Mr. Lu Shan, Deputy Director General of the European Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.( Czech Ambassador's speech can be found in the attachment).

After delivering the speeches, all guests had the opportunity to visit the exhibition commemorating the 100 year of the Czech currency, organized by the Czech Embassy in Beijing in cooperation with the Czech National Bank.

Another interesting feature of the morning and evening program was the exhibition 125 years of Škoda car history.

The guests enjoyed traditional Czech dishes prepared by the Czech Embassy Chef and Czech drinks such as Pilsner Urquell draft beer and taste of Czech wines. The evening program was accompanied by reproduced swing music by the Karel Vlach orchestra. Guests also had the opportunity to see a selection of kitchen products from the Tescoma brand.

The highlight of the whole event was the announcement of the upcoming Czech Cuisine Week, as hosted by the Hotel St. Regis from October 23 to 28. Hotel guests and other visitors will be able to taste the specialties of Czech cuisine, indulge in exclusive gastronomic experiences and try their luck in the raffle with interesting Czech prizes.

The evening event was attended by more than 250 guests such as diplomats and the Chinese partners of the Czech Embassy – mainly from the trading sector.
