Call for Proposals: Small Scale Projects 2021

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beirut is launching its annual call for proposals for the Small Scale Projects (SSP) for the year 2021.

Small Scale Projects are instruments of bilateral development cooperation of the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. These projects are directly managed by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beirut. Through the SSPs, the Czech Republic supports small-scale development projects carried out directly by local stakeholders in accordance with the beneficiary country´s national development priorities.

All projects should be in accordance with the national development strategy and promote gender equality and respect for the environment. The SSPs should also contribute to increasing the visibility of the Czech Republic in Lebanon.

FUNDING

Funding provided by the Czech Republic for each project ranges between 200 000 CZK (approx. 9 000 USD) to maximum limit 500 000 CZK (approx. 22 000 USD). Co-funding from the applicant or other sources is welcomed (in case of co-funding, the applicant is requested to fill additional funds from other donor into the project budget overview in the Identification Form). Overhead costs are to be born by the applicant. The funds from the Czech Republic shall be used on the implementation of the main project goal and should be handled in effective manner. In line with this, the total cost of salary/fee, subsistence allowance, accommodation, travel cost and eventual insurance and vaccination of the experts (personal and travel costs) must not exceed 25 % of the project´s total costs. The SSP budget also cannot include the payment of the implementer´s administrative costs.

The financial amount approved for the implementation of the selected SSP will be in Czech currency (CZK). This amount will be binding for the conversion into USD (following the official exchange rate). The approved CZK amount is final and cannot be changed. It is necessary to take this into account during project and budget planning.

WHO CAN APPLY

Only subjects that can demonstrate their independent legal status in Lebanon can submit SSP proposal(s):

  1. Non-political and non-governmental organizations only;
  2. Implementer of the SSP is a local subject with legal status in the country of the project implementation;
  3. Implementer must be eligible to sign contract with MFA CZ; thus, the contract would fall under jurisdiction of Czech law and Czech courts.

The majority of SSP funding is to be directed toward local civil society organizations (including non-governmental organizations) and other institutions working at the local level. Other entities, such as international, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional organizations can be eligible for a contribution provided that they are working with local partners and on local projects. Similarly educational, health, social or cultural institutions may receive SSP funding provided that their projects are essentially local in nature.
