General information about long-term visa and residence permits

Long-stay visa is issued to applicants who plan to stay in the territory of the Czech Republic for more than 3 months. The visa is issued for maximum one year and can be renewed in the Czech territory. The purpose of the long-stay visa may be health, culture, sports, study, scientific research, family reunion, entrepreneurship and other. This type of visa allows its holder to visit and stay in other countries of the Schengen area for maximum 90 days within any 180-day period.

General information about the long-stay visas and the requirements of long-stay visa applications may be found at the websites of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic.

The working languages of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Beirut are Czech and English. Applicants for long-term visas and residence permits who cannot communicate in the above stated languages need to arrange, at their own expense, an interpreter. All the documents submitted with the application have to be officially translated to the Czech language.

Please note that any supporting document may not be older than 6 months. If the validity of a document is shorter (i.e. 3 months for Syrian crimminal record) this limited validity needs to be respected.

The Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic requires all applicants for long term visa/permit to submit criminal record of the country of origin to their application, as well as the criminal record of any other country they have resided in more then 6 months in the last 3 years.  The criminal record - as any other public document - has to be presented with superlegalisation, if applicable.

Should the proof of funds be documented by a bank account statement - it is requested to submit the periodical statement showing all the transactions on that account over the period of last 3 months preceeding the date of application.

The entire file of application with all the required documents is requested in 1 original and 1 copy.
