Kateřina Fialková Is the New Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Switzerland

On 5th September 2019, the new ambassador of the Czech Republic to Switzerland, Kateřina Fialková, handed over her letter of credence to the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ueli Maurer, and officially assumed her new position.

 

The main topics of the discussion between the President and the new Ambassador were the traditional outstanding bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Switzerland and the ways of expanding the areas of political dialogue, science, research and innovation. Current developments in the negotiation of the framework agreement between Switzerland and the European Union, as well as the approaching parliamentary elections in Switzerland, were also discussed. Additionally, the ambassador thanked Switzerland for accepting Czechoslovak fugitives after 1968.
 
The new ambassador was accompanied by her deputy, Irena Valentová, the head of the Consular Department, Vladimír Krňávek, and the head of the Department of Business and Economy, Alena Gorgol, during the ceremony held in the Federal House in Bern – the seat of the Swiss government and parliament.
 
On the occasion of the exchange of credentials, a small celebration for the diplomatic corps and invited countrymen was hosted on the grounds of the embassy.
