The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bern assumes the role of NATO Contact Point Embassy in Switzerland

On 10 January, the Czech Republic officially took over the role of NATO Contact Point Embassy in Switzerland from Canada for the period 2023-2024. The role of the NATO Contact Point Embassy in Bern is to contribute to the relationship between Switzerland and NATO in a mutually beneficial way. The Czech Embassy in Bern intends to focus its work on activities in the field of security cooperation and NATO partnership policy.

Switzerland is a long-standing and valued partner of NATO, an active member of the Partnership for Peace Programme (PfP) since 1996 and of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) since 1997. Cooperation with NATO is defined in the Individual Partnership and Cooperation Programme (IPCP). Switzerland participates in the Alliance's KFOR mission and regular exercises, but not in combat operations. The main priorities for the Czech NATO Contact Point Embassy are aligned with the traditional topics of Swiss interests and include humanitarian missions, support to the Alliance's human security policies, arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, civil-military cooperation, counter-terrorism and stability in the Western Balkans. Further information can be found at www.nato.int.

The agenda of NATO Contact Point Embassy will be executed by Mrs Markéta Fajmonová, who has reinforced the team of the Czech Embassy in Bern.
