Celebration of the National Day of the Czech Republic

(This article expired 30.11.2020.)

The Ambassador of the Czech Republic Katerina Lukesova has the honor of inviting you to the celebration of the National Day, which will be held by means of a virtual concert.

On October 28, Czechs in the Czech Republic and all over the world celebrate their National Holiday. In 1918, at the end of the First World War, our modern state was born in the form of a democratic, multicultural, tolerant and defender of human rights republic, built on the foundations of the millennial Kingdom of Bohemia and its cultural legacy. In our modern history we went through a difficult path, characteristic of the European continent: we undertook a long and winding journey from democracy through two dictatorships, Nazi and Communist, to return, possibly stronger and more humble, to democracy. There are, then, reasons to celebrate.

On this important day we would love, as always, to meet with our friends, colleagues and compatriots; unfortunately this year for obvious reasons it will not be possible. However, the "miracle" of modern technology allows us to meet virtually. For this reason, I would like to invite you to share with us a small concert, a musical excursion from the time of the Czech Baroque to the present.

The Époque Quartet, one of the best contemporary chamber music ensembles, has prepared an exceptional program for you where the Czechs (FX Richter, A. Dvorak and J. Kucera) coexist with the Belgians (Django Reinhardt) the French (Vladimir Cosma). ) and the Argentines (Astor Piazzolla). The concert will be available in the course of October 28 on our social networks. Happy National Day and we hope you enjoy the music that comes directly from Prague.
