A commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Operation ANTHROPOID

A commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Operation ANTHROPOID, the most successful joint act of the Czechoslovak domestic and foreign resistance featuring a new exhibition has been prepared by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brussels, in cooperation with the Czechoslovak  Community of Legionnaires and the Bastogne Warmuseum.
 

The inauguration ceremony took place on Saturday, September 10, 2022 and was attended by 140 guests, despite the distance of 160 kilometers from Brussels. Among the distinguished guests and speakers, were the Ambassador of the Czech Republic H.E. Pavel Klucký, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. Jaromír Alan, on behalf of NMR SHAPE in Mons, Gen. Hromek, the mayor of Bastogne and MEP Benoit Lutgen, Governor of the Luxembourg Province Mr. Olivier Schmitz, the Director of the Bastogne Warmuseum Mathieu Billa and German Ambassador H.E. Martin Kotthaus.

Three red roses were planted in order to commemorate the fate of Lidice by the Czech and German Ambassadors H.E. Klucky and H.E. Kotthaus together with Mayor Lutgen. This is a historic event. A commemorative plaque that  highlights this act was unveiled on the occasion.
