Embassy of the Czech Republic in Brussels joins the condoléances of the Czech political representatives to France

Czech Republic categorically condemns the terrorist attack directed against the staff of the Charlie Hebdo magazine and against police officers in Paris on 7 January 2015.

Czech President has sent a letter of condolences to the President of France Francois Hollande after the attack in Paris.

President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman expressed his condolences to the families of the victims on behalf of the Czech public. He said he considers the act an assault on fundamental values on which European society is based.


Prime Minister Sobotka Condoles with his French Counterpart Valls

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka, has sent a letter of condolences to his French counterpart Manuel Valls, condemning the terrorist attack on the editorial office of the Charlie Hebdo weekly magazine.

Your Excellency, Dear Prime Minister,

I was profoundly shocked by the terrorist attack against the editorial office of the Charlie Hebdo weekly in Paris. I denounce this act of terrorism that has claimed numerous human lives, including the lives of several police officers. This barbaric act is an unjustifiable attack against the media and against the freedom of the press. Your Excellency, please accept my deepest sympathy to your government and to the people of the French Republic and kindly pass my condolences on to the victims' families.

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Terrorist Attack in Paris

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic categorically condemns the terrorist attack directed against the staff of the Charlie Hebdo magazine and against police officers in Paris on 7 January 2015.

The unacceptable actions of the attackers testify to their disrespect for human life as well as to their hostile attitude to the freedom of speech, one of the values advocated by the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic shares with France the conviction that it is vital to combat terrorism in all its forms.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic conveys sincere sympathy to the families of the victims as well as best wishes for a speedy recovery of those injured, and expresses hope that the attackers will soon be traced down and arrested.
