One World in Brussels

For the 12th time Brussels audience will have a chance to see documentary films of One World Festival. Discussions about the key topics of today, such as fake news, the unending war in Syria and the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, will be opened from April 23 until May 3. One World in Brussels will screen 15 films, complemented by debates with human rights defenders, politicians, experts and filmmakers.
The twelfth edition of the One World festival in Brussels – which takes place under the auspices of Martin Povejšil, the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the EU – will be opened on April 23 at Bozar, at 8 pm, with the documentary The Cleaners, from the directors Hans Block and Moritz Riesenwieck. The film tells the stories of controllers who uncover inappropriate content on social media.
The films shown in Brussels are a selection from more than 100 films shown at One World in Prague. The emphasis is on topics of interest of the EU and those in which People in Need has a direct expertise. An integral part of the festival is a series of discussions with human rights defenders, politicians and experts and advocacy meetings. In 2018, One World will again reflect current political and social topics.
The screenings will be held at the Czech Permanent Representation, BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, the European Parliament, Norway House, Cinema Galeries, and House of European History.
The festival is organized by People in Need, in cooperation with the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU and the Czech Center in Brussels, supported by Czech Embassy in Brussels.
