International Summer School in Ostrava 2019

The International Summer School organized by VSB - Technical University of Ostrava will be held for the forth time from 8 until 19 July 2019. There will be 7 interesting one-week courses. Through lectures, presentations, symposia and walking tours students can discover the past, present and future development of architecture in Ostrava, its nature, urban life and its future development. Applications can be submitted until 31 May 2019 by any university student.

This year, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava has prepared the International Summer School program covering wide range of the academic fields. There will be two blocks, the first one takes place from 8 until 12 July 2019 and offers the following courses:

  • Adventures of architecture in Ostrava - Urban Wildness,
  • New Approaches to Quality Management,
  • Human Aspects on Industrial Control,
  • Renewable and Alternative Energy Sources.

The second block, from 15 untill 19 July 2019, will deal with these topics:

  • Advanced Methods of Mechatronics,
  • Battery Camp
  • Activity Camp (for those who want not only to try the sport facilities within the university campus but also make trips around the Ostrava).

The summer courses offer an insight into the (post)industrial city of Ostrava. They will touch upon its architectural history, current development and transformation to sustainable future. Through lectures, site visits and collaborative games, the participants will gain an interdisciplinary knowledge and a direct experience of contemporary and historical architecture and urbanism.

VSB-TU Ostrava holds prestigious EU certificates ― the ECTS and DS Labels and its International Summer School complements the university education. The Summer School is particularly recommended to students in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning, history of architecture and urban history, municipal development and engineering. Students who complete the program in its entirety will be granted by the Certificate of Completion and 2 ECTS credits.
