On Wednesday 20th March 2019, the Embassy of the Czech republic in cooperation with MEP Michaela Šojdrová, Czech center in Brussels and The House of European History organized a screening of „Jan Palach“ movie (CZ, 2018), attended by the movie’s director, Robert Sedláček. The event was organized in the context of the exhibition “Restless Youth”, hosted by House of European History.

The exhibition itself is mapping four generations of European youth, maturing in late 40s, 60s, and 80s as well as in the beginning of the 21st century, their values, culture, vision, dedication to fight for them all and also the perception of each one being distinctively different and unique. The exhibits come from various regions and times, such as Prague in August 1968, student protests in Romania or the fall of the iron curtain, linked to the punk movement in West Germany. Guests were able to take a peek at the exhibition, including the death mask of Jan Palach, before being welcomed by dignitaries from respective aforementioned institutions at the screening. After the movie, nearly one hundred spectators had the opportunity to debate with the movie’s director, Robert Sedláček.
