17th annual European Summer School in Prague

The 17th annual European Summer School in Prague will be held from 13 until 20 July 2019. It is organized by one of the leading think-tanks in Central Europe, EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, in co-operation with Prague College and the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University. This year’s European Summer School runs under the title “Restarting Europe: Central European Perspective.” Applications can be submitted until 30 May 2019 by any university student or those who have graduated recently.

The European Summer School in Prague is an intensive 7-day learning program focused on European integration. This year´s topic will revolve around the possible scenarios for the future developments of the EU. The academic program is comprised of interactive lectures that introduce the main topics of the course, debates with experts in their fields, moderated debates between students, and visits to state institutions dealing with European topics combined with meetings with relevant stakeholders.

The lectures and workshops will cover the following themes:

  • EU reform and scenarios
  • foreign policy
  • Central Europe and V4 perspective
  • migration
  • competitiveness
  • digitalization
  • geopolitical challenges
  • globalization

Over the 7 days, students will participate in:

  • 6 highly interactive lectures
  • 2 interactive workshops developing the topics of some of the lectures
  • 2 excursions combined with meetings with stakeholders
  • 1 introductory lesson on debating and 1 subsequent Oxford-style debate

Apart from academic program, participants will have chance to visit places fascinating to anyone interested in politics and international relations such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic or Czech Senate. Accompanying activities also include guided tour of the historical city, a boat party on the Vltava River, beach volleyball or dragon boating.
