Czech Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba

Czech Centres are bringing you another incredible music event which will be streamed to audiences worldwide on December 17 at 19:00 UTC. Through our network, people on three continents will be able to watch the recording of Christmas Mass by Jakub Jan Ryba performed by the Dvořák Chamber Orchestra and the Kühn Chamber Choir.

Since its first rendition in the Baroque church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in 1796, Ryba’s Christmas Mass has been a symbol of Czech Christmas, and it is where the concert we will be streaming was recorded. It is conducted by Libor Pešek and features a number of exceptional soloists as well as the original 1750 organ that Jan Jakub Ryba used to play. You will also be able to see the unique and much-loved mechanical Christmas nativity scene made by Josef Probošt.
