Ambassador attends a seminar on Jewish heritage

On 20 November 2012, Ambassador Jiří Šitler attended the “Jewish Heritage in Central Europe – past and present” seminar, organized by the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group. The event in the State Jewish Theatre in Bucharest included opening of the exhibition of synagogue textiles by the Czech artist Iva Vodrážková.

Also present at the seminar was Jan Machala of the Czech Institute for the Study of
Totalitarian Regimes who gave a lecture on the Jewish community in Czechoslovakia during the communist period. The one-day event, co-organized by the Embassies of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovak Republic in Bucharest under the Polish Presidency of V4-group, was attended by representatives of Jewish communities of the V4 member-countries, President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania´s Parliament Valeriu Zgonea, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania Aurel Vainer and Director of the State Jewish Theatre Maia Morgenstern.
