Ambassador attends Day of Czechs in Timişoara

On 27 October 2012, Ambassador Jiří Šitler together with Mayor of Timişoara Nicolae Robu unveiled a plaque marking a Czech Alley at Piaţa Crucii Park. A total of 50 trees, donated by the Czech Arboeko company to the city of Timişoara, create the alley. The ceremony was part of the Day of Czechs in Timişoara.
Earlier that day, Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jiří Šitler met with Mayor Nicolae Robu at the City Hall of Timişoara and discussed with him economic, cultural and educational cooperation.
The Day of Czechs in Timişoara, organized annually by the Czech community in Romania to mark the Czech Republic´s National Holiday, took place for the seventh time already. The programme traditionally comprises a wreath laying ceremony at Monument of the heroes of the revolution, a parade through the city and performance of dance ensembles from Czech villages.
