On 27 January 2011 the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jiří Šitler attended a ceremony at the Holocaust Memorial in Bucharest organized by the Civil Alliance of the Roma Minority in Romania and the Centre for Education and Social Development on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In his speech, the Ambassador recalled the Jewish, Roma and other victims of Nazism in the Czech lands, Romania and all over Europe and laid a wreath to honour their memory. Later that day, the Ambassador attended an event for the Holocaust Remembrance Day at the Romanian Peasants Museum.
