Ambassador Jiří Šitler meets Minister of Education

On 14 February 2011 the Ambassador Jiří Šitler was received by the Minister of Education, Research, Youth and Sports of Romania Daniel Funeriu.

The Minister presented the Ambassador with the recently approved Law of National Education. Discussing bilateral cooperation in the sphere of education and research, they focused on the exchange of students, international ELI project as well as the possibilities for joint projects in the future. Both the Ambassador and the Minister attach great importance to the Czech-Hungarian-Romanian project ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure). The Minister expressed support for the education of the national minorities in their native language. Two Czech teachers work now at schools in Czech villages in Banat.  The Ambassador then mentioned great success of Czech studies in the University of Bucharest where the Czech language is being studied by 49 Romanian students and the interest in the Czech studies is growing every year.
