Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic visited Romania

On 13 – 15 October 2014, a delegation of Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Romania.

The delegation was headed by the chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs MP Jeroným Tejc, who was accompanied by the members of the Committee MPs Marek Benda, Martin Komárek and Jiří Junek. Besides talks with a delegation of the partnership Legal, Discipline and Immunities Committee, the delegation had meetings at the Superior Council of Magistracy, the General Prosecutor´s Office, Ministry of Justice and the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile.

The visit aimed at strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation. The Czech side focused, among others, on functioning of the General Prosecutor of Romania, organization and operation of courts and prosecutor´s offices, Romanian electoral system, cooperation of both Chambers of the Parliament of Romania, legal set-up of cohabitation between the President and the Prime Minister of Romania and other issues, which could potentially be beneficial for work of the Committee.
