Czech participation in the Day of Europe

On 9 – 11 May 2014, Ambassador Jiří Šitler attended a series of events organized in Bucharest to mark the Day of Europe by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commisssion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Bucharest City Hall.
On 9 May, two Czech exhibitons were presented at Timpuri Noi metro station: „Great Czechs by Little Czechs” on significant personalities of Czech history and culture as seen from children’s perspective, and „Czechs in Banat” by photographer Ivo Dokoupil, depicting life and traditions of Czech community living in Romanian Banat since 19th century.
On 11 May, Ambassador Jiří Šitler visited the „EU Member States Market” in Cişmigiu Park. Visitors of the Czech stand were offered portraits made on the spot by illustrator of thecomics book on Czech-Romnian relations Mickey pe Dunăre (Mickey on the Danube) Cristian Dârstar.
