European Committee of Czech Senate confers in Romania

A delegation of the Committee on EU Affairs of the Senate of Parliament of the Czech Republic, headed by its chairman Miroslav Krejča, pays a visit to Romania on 8 – 12 May 2013.

Czech senators conferred with  the delegation of the Committee on European Affairs of Romania´s Senate headed by its chairperson Anca Boagiu, with  the Chairman of  the Senate´s Foreign Committee Petru Filip, Chairman of the Foreign Committee of the Chamber of Deputies Ovidiu Silaghi, Chairman of the Group of Friends of the Czech Republic in the Senate Gheorghe Saghian, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs George Ciamba, State Secretary of the Ministry of European Funds Gabriel Onaca and State Secretary for Energy of the Ministry of Economy Mihai Albulescu. The Czech senators were also received by Romanian Senate´s Vice-President Cristian Dumitrescu.

The talks focused on the exchange of work experience of the two Parliaments, or more precisely, the Committees, and the development of bilateral relations, mainly in the economic sphere. During the exchange of views on topical European issues, the Czech delegation reiterated support for Romania´s accession to the Schengen area. In connection of Czech investors operating in Romania, special attention  was paid to the field of energy, especially to the changes to be introduced in the sphere of renewable resources. 

The members of the delegation include Vice-Chairman of the Committee Jaroslav Doubrava as well as Tomáš Grulich, who is the Chairman of the Standing Senate Commission on Czechs Living Abroad.

On 11 – 12 May, the Czech Senators will attend the Days of the Czechs from Banat to take place in Bucharest.
