Václav Havel European Dialogues May 8 in Bucharest

On Monday May 8, the second annual Václav Havel European Dialogues took place at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest, this time dedicated to the topic of Disinformation in the Contemporary World.

As usual, the discussion forum on this more than topical topic consisted of two parts. In the morning part, Bogdan Ghiu, Romanian philosopher, poet and essayist, who is currently ranked among the most important Romanian translators of French philosophy and literature, and Bob Kartous, director of the Prague Innovation Institute and co-founder of the expert civic platform KoroNERV-20 and spokesperson of the Czech Elves platform, fighting disinformation in public space, spoke on the question of how disinformation transforms modern society and how to counter it. The moderator of this part of the Dialogues was Angela Grămadă, President of the Association of Experts on Security and Global Affairs. 
The discussion continued focused on the topic of disinformation, means and weapons in international relations. Among the speakers of this session were Alina Bârgăoanu, university professor, dean of the Faculty of Communication and Public Relations (SNSPA) and member of the advisory board of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), as well as Kristina Zelenyuk, journalist currently working for Ukraine's largest TV channel "1+1" and the website TSN.ua. and Mirea Nanca, who is a communication expert and a member of the Strategic Communication Unit of the European Union's diplomatic service. The moderator of this part was Miruna Troncota, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest.
In the afternoon session, students from Romanian partner universities presented their theses on the topic of disinformation. A discussion followed at the end of the event, which enriched the issues discussed with new perspectives and opinions of the students. 
The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Bucharest participated in the event in partnership with the Czech Centre in Bucharest.
