Based on an agreement between Ambassador Jiří Šitler and highest representatives of the Prahova County during his visit to Ploiesti on 31 July 2014, the exhibition takes place – after Bucharest – also here. The exhibition was opened by a Deputy-Head of Mission Tomáš Vostrý together with director Emilia Iancu at the presence of Prahova County prefect Rodica Paraschiv and president of the County Council Mircea Cosma.

Among approx. 60 guests there were representatives of local institutions, military, police, war veterans, historians, journalists and general public. In his speech, T. Vostrý pointed out that “with this exhibition we want to recall all victims and participants in the First World War regardless of which side they fought for”.

The exhibition was prepared in collaboration of the Embassy of the Czech Republic with the Military History Institute in Prague and a Public Diplomacy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The exposition involves – among others – works of the following artists: František Kupka, Otto Gutfreund, Emil Filla, Jan Štursa, Václav Špála, Josef Váchal, Vincenc Beneš, Ladislav Šíma and Vojtěch Preissig.

The exhibition will last until 5 September 2014.
