First Deputy Foreign Minister visited Romania

On 28 – 29 October 2013, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Jiří Schneider lead a delegation of the Czech Republic at 2nd Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

Besides the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs the delegation was composed of representatives of the Office of the Government (J. Georgiev, P. Šťastná), Ministry of Regional Development (R. Hošek), Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (L. Dubovský, P. Kundeliusová), Ministry of Industry and Trade (D. Schmidová) and Ministry of the Environment (R. Matúš).

On 28 October 2013, J. Schneider participated at the meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers, where ministers and high representatives of the European Commission, Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and foreign ministries of countries involved in the EU Strategy for the Danube Region discussed its further development.

On this occasion the First Deputy Minister also visited a photo exhibition by Josef Koudelka Invazie 68 Praga marking tragic events of August 1968. The exhibition was organized by the Czech Center in Bucharest in cooperation with the French Institute at Anexa MNAC (National Museum of Contemporary Art) in Bucharest. The anti-tank cannon, which the Romanian Government provided as a part of the exhibition, bears an honorary label: “This gun of the Romanian Army did not take part in the invasion of Czechoslovakia”.
