They discussed the priorities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which are closely linked to the unprovoked Russian aggression in Ukraine. President Tîlvăr praised the Czech Presidency's priorities and stressed the difficult task the Czech Republic has as the presiding country in these turbulent times. Other main topics were Romania's accession to the Schengen area, support for Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, and the long-standing excellent relations between the Czech Republic and Romania.
