The Czech Ambassador Vladimír Války commenced the event by underscoring the meaning of Lidice for the present and future. Then Ms. Eva Lustigová, the guest of honour, spoke about the legacy of her deceased father Arnošt Lustig, who dealt with the Lidice and Heydrich case in his works. Aurel Vainer, the President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania, went on to deal with the Second World War and how it affected Europe, including Romania. On this occasion, Ms. Helliana Ianculescu presented Arnošt Lustig’s book “The Story of Marie Navarová“,  translated in Romanian by her and read passages from the book. Mihai Retegan, the Romanian historian followed by analyzing the character of Heydrich and his assassination. Then, Dan Mircea Duṭa, a filmologist, screened a sequence from the Czechoslovakian film „Assassination“  and provided his commentary.

At the end, Roman Prosa, the Consul of the Emabassy, presented the awards to the children from Bucharest and the surrounding area, who won successfully participated in the 43rd International Children’s Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2015.

The event was well received by the approx. 70 guests and was covered by the Romanian media.
