National Day of the Czech Republic

On 30 October 2013, the Embassy of the Czech Republic organized a concert and a reception to celebrate the Czech National Holiday – Foundation of the Independent Czechoslovak State in 1918.
A celebration started with a joint concert of top Czech and Romanian violinists Pavel Šporcl and Alexandru Tomescu in the Romanian Atheneum, for which a contemporary Romanian composer Dan Dediu composed a piece inspired by Dvořák and Smetana. The concert was followed by a reception. Among prominent guests there were Valeriu Stefan Zgonea, President of the Chamber of Deputies, and Titus Corlatean, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Guests could see the exhibitions “Manuscripts in Czech Libraries” and “Great Czechs by Little Czechs”, which presents personalities of Czech history through children´s perspective.
