Receiving a delegation of compatriots and mayors of Banát on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day of the Czech Republic

On 28 October, Ambassador Halka Kaiser received a large delegation of compatriots and mayors from Banát. The delegation, consisting of the President of the Czech branch of the Democratic Union of Slovaks and Czechs, Stefan Bouda, the President of the Czech branches from Banat and the mayors from St. Helena/Coronina and Gernik, came to Bucharest to celebrate the National Day of the Czech Republic.
The Ambassador discussed with the compatriots the preparations for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Banat, which will take place in 2023. The compatriots presented their activities and appreciated the support provided by the Czech Republic for the development of the region and the preservation of traditions. The Ambassador also expressed her full support for the compatriots' efforts to split the Democratic Union of Slovaks and Czechs and create two separate successor organisations to defend the interests of their members. The Czech representation would thus gain representation in the Parliament.
