The Czech Republic is among 10 safest countries in the world

According to „Global Peace Index“ which is annually published by the global non-profit organization „Institute for Economics and Peace“ with a headquarter in Sydney and branch offices in NY and Oxford, the Czech Republic ranks among ten safest destinations in the world.

Since 2008 the Global Peace Index measures the state of peace in 162 countries according to 23 indicators that gauge the absence of violence or the fear of violence. It is produced annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace. These indicators can be grouped into three broad themes: the level of safety and security in a society, the number of international and domestic conflicts and the degree of militarisation.

The Czech Republic improved its position by 8 places. In 2015 the Czech Republic was placed tenth ahead of Portugal and Ireland and bet among others even Slovakia, Norway, Germany.

In the first places of the index are, over the long period, placed Scandinavian coutries such as Iceland and Denmark or from continental Europe Austria. New Zealand is the best from overseas countries. Index assesses even the continents from which Europe is assessed as the most peaceful.

A detailed analysis of the state of global peace and the full Global Peace Index methodology can be found in the 2015 Global Peace Index Report.
