OPEN CALL FOR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Dear students!
Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, the Václav Havel Library and the Czech Centres network invite you to participate in international project The Václav Havel European Dialogues, taking place for the first time in Egypt (in the first half of December 2022) in a form of a conference and accompanying cultural program. The main theme is The Power of Dialogue, reflecting on ways of civic engagement and democratic dialogue, solidarity, and influence of public opinion on political engagement with participation of young people. What do we expect from your side?

Open essay or research paper, but you also can let your imagination run wild and express yourself in the form of a poem, a video, or other kind of presentation, even a visual work of art. It is mainly important to comment on the topic of the active citizenship and the importance
of dialogue. Why is young people's interest in politics declining? What affects dialogue?
Is participation in political life the duty of all citizens? What does politics mean as part of everyday life? Try to reflect on these and consequent questions and unfold them further.

Minimum number of characters is not given, maximum characters for texts is 5000.

The open call is eligible for university students in Egypt.

How to apply?

Write texts on the given topic in English or Czech. After that, simply send your final work to
e-mail: svaskova@czech.cz.

If you choose to approach the topic differently, using other media (i.e. video, photo) please share in such mail a link to an online storage platform (e.g. dropbox.com) where we can download those audio-visual outputs. In the subject of the email please write: Power
of Dialogue.

The deadline for submitting your work: 16 November 2022

The prize?

The winner will receive a set of IT equipment gifts (i.e. headphones, flash disc, power bank) worth 3000 EGP. The next two best participants will also receive valuable prizes. The winners will be publicly announced and rewarded at the conference.
