What you need to submit with the application for Schengen visa

Applications are generally lodged in person regardless of the age and biometric data (fingerprints) are collected. Schengen visa applications can be submitted six months (180 days) at the earliest and 15 days at the latest ahead of the trip.

 

General visa application requirements:

1)  Application form

The application form must be filled in completely and signed at the very end of the form. Any person appearing in your travel document (such as your child under the age of 15 or wife) must complete a separate application form. The visa application form for a child under 18 must be signed by a parent or a legal guardian.

Please note: the application form must be filled in only in Czech or English language. The application form can be filled electronically or manually.

2) Travel document

Your travel document (passport) must contain at least two empty pages for affixing visa stickers, must have been issued within the last 10 years and must be valid for at least three months after your intended stay (after the last intended stay in case of multiple journeys).

3) 1 Photograph

Your photograph must confirm to ICAO standards. The photograph should be of standard passport photo size (35x45 mm), must be of a high quality, taken against a plain light background, not older than 6 months, showing you looking directly at the camera with your eyes open. Please attach the photograph to the application form with glue (do not staple it).

4) Fingerprints

You have to submit your fingerprints when applying for a visa for the first timeFor the purpose of collecting the fingerprints, you need to appear in person. Once the fingerprints have been collected, you are in general not required to re-submit them for the next 59 months. In that case, you need to prove that your fingerprints were taken (provide a copy of the visa at the application for which your fingerprints were taken, or the form informing about the refusal of such an application), otherwise, you can request that your fingerprints be collected again.

Children younger than 12 years are not required to submit fingerprints, as well as Heads of state and government and members of national governments traveling for official purpose.

5)  Visa Fee

Payable in cash (EGP) or Credit card (EUR). Personal or business checks are NOT accepted.

Children aged 0-6 years (i.e. children that are 6 years of age minus 1 day)

Family members of EU citizens

School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who travel  for the purpose of study or educational training

Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of  scientific research

Representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, or sport, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations

 

6)  Travel Medical Insurance

a) Applicants should submit copy of a valid medical insurance that covers the period of stay in Schengen area. The Insurance must cover the entire period of   intended stay, valid for all Schengen States and covering any expanses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgency medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay. The minimum coverage must be EUR 30.000,-/45.000,-USD.

b) Holders of Egyptian passports issued after 1/7/2021 are exempt from submitting Travelling Medical Insurance as long as they can prove they have obtained the obligatory Insurance Policy issued by Egyptian Pool for Travel Insurance via Egyptian Ministry of Interior. Applicants must submit the Insurance Policy, NOT a copy of the insurance sticker.

Please note:

The Visa and Consular Department has full authority to evaluate and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant, therefore, always include your mobile or home or office telephone number or e-mail with your application. The applicant is hereby informed that submitting the above mentioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of the visa.

Visa issuance does not automatically grant the right of entry to the Schengen Area / Czech Republic. Visa holders need to fulfil entry conditions specified in the Schengen Border Code and can be asked upon entry to present documents on accommodation, finances, return air ticket etc. Failure to notify the consulate of any changes in the trip arrangements after the application has been lodged or after the visa has been issued can result into revocation or annulation of the visa.
