Visa and Consular Department Contact Information

ALL consular and visa visits must be requested and confirmed by email.  This measure also applies to family members of EU citizens applying for Schengen visas. No visitor without an appointment will be allowed entry into the Visa and Consular Department.

Passport and refusal letters collections for all types of visas:

From Sunday through Thursday between 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

Exceptionally a passport can be collected by an authorized person or via DHL on the basis of power of attorney with a verified signature - with no responsibility for eventual loss/damage on the Embassy side.

 Consular Territorial Competence:

  • According to the Ministerial Decree of the Territorial Competence of the Czech Embassies, the Czech Embassy in Cairo shall examine and decide applications of the following Member States in whose jurisdiction the applicant legally resides, i.e: Egypt. Eritrea, Sudan, Yemen and the Gaza Strip. Applications are submitted in person only.
  • Starting with January 15, 2015 the Sudanese passport holders and persons with residence in Sudan travelling to the Czech Republic can apply for short term visa (schengen visa) at the Embassy of Switzerland in Khartoum, Street 15, House No. 7, Amarat-Khartoum. At the same time  they can lodge their short term visa application at the Czech Embassy  in Cairo. If the stay in the Czech Republic will exceed 3 month and/or be for employment, study, marriage or family reunification, the applicant must be lodged directly with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo.
  • The Palestinian applicants from the Gaza strip shall lodge their visa applications either at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo, or, at the Czech Embassy in Tel Aviv. or, at the Representative Office in Ramallah.
  • Long term visa applicants and family reunification applicants form Sudan and Eritrea shall also lodge their visa applications at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo

Kindly be informed that the Embassy/ Consular and Visa Department of the Czech Republic in Cairo will be closed during Czech Holidays:

  • January 1 - New Year´s Day and Restoration Day of the Independent Czech State
  • Movable Holiday – Good Friday and Easter Monday (on 2 April and 5 April 2021)
  • May 1 - Labour Day
  • May 8 - Liberation Day
  • July 5 - Day of the Slavic Apostles Cyril and Methodius
  • July 6 - Jan Hus Day
  • September 28 - Czech Statehood Day
  • October 28 - Establishment of  independent Czechoslovakia
  • November 17 - Freedom and Democracy Day
  • December 24 - Christmas Eve
  • December 25 - Christmas Day
  • December 26 - St. Stephen's Day
