Czech Parliamentary Friendship Group established!

Ambassador Tomáš Dub met with the Parliamentary Group of Friends of the Czech Republic on 24 November 2022. This is a newly established group that will assist our Embassy in, among other things, strengthening the awareness and perception of the Czech Republic in its international relations activities, or the presentation of the Czech Republic in the Australian regions from which its members come.

The group has a total of 26 members from both Houses of Parliament from both the Government and Opposition benches. The group will be led by Luke Gosling MP, Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Development, Infrastructure and Transport. Other prominent members include Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Senator Simon Birmingham, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and former Minister for Trade, Bert van Manen, the main Opposition "Whip", and Marise Payne, former Foreign Secretary.

Given that the group was established six months after the last general election (May 2022), it should remain in place until the next election in 2025.
