Kafka Night in Canberra

On Friday 30th August a theatre adaptation of Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka took place in the Street Theatre in Canberra. The performance was preceeded by a discussion moderated by Russell Smith, a professor of literature at ANU, between representatives of the Embassies of the Czech Republic and Germany, and the wider public.

The aim of the evening was to bring people closer to the life and work of the famous writer who, despite writing in German, was of Czech nationality. During the play and the discussion before it, guests attending the sold out event were offered Czech beer supplied by the Embassy.
