National Days of the Czech Republic and of Austria

On the 26th and 27th of October, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, in partnership with the Embassy of Austria, held two joint receptions at the Austrian Residence to mark the National Days of the Czech Republic and of Austria.

Guests of the reception on the 26th were greeted to a wonderful piano rendition of the anthem of European Union (Ode to Joy), Czech Beer on Tap (Pilsner Urquell) and wine from prominent Czech winemaker and star guest, Mr Josef Chromy OAM. Some of those who had been able to join our reception included Ambassadors and High Commissioners of the diplomatic community in Canberra and Senators and Ministers of the Czech Inter-parliamentary Friendship group, including its Chair, Mr Luke Gosling OAM, MP. His Excellency Ambassador Tomáš Dub and His Excellency Ambassador Wolfgang Strohmayer both spoke about the importance of European Union solidarity and diplomatic relations between both countries and Australia.

Guests of the reception on the 27th were greeted to an amazing rendition of the Czech National Anthem (Kde domov můj) and Austrian National Anthem (Land der Berge, Land am Strome) perform by the Austrian Choir. Once again, there was Czech Beer on tap, bits to eat and Tatranky on exit along with jazz music, which accompanied both receptions.

The Embassy of the Czech Republic is very appreciative of the collaboration on the reception and is looking forward to future joint events.

More photos will be available for the reception of the 27th in the coming days.
