Tourists allowed to Enter New Zealand from 2 May 2022

New Zealand will reopen to international tourists earlier than originally planned. EU citizens can enter NZ from 2 May. Self-isolation upon arrival will no longer be required (for fully vaccinated travellers). The main driver behind the anticipated border reopening is the tourist industry, which accounted for 5% of NZ’s GDP before the pandemic. Pre-departure tests will be required and rapid antigens tests to be taken upon arrival and 5 days thereafter. Some EU citizens may enter already from 13 April, when international students and temporary visa holders (including Working Holiday Visa holders) will be admitted. The EU has recognised the equivalence of New Zealand’s international vaccination certificate to the EU Digital Covid Certificate, which will facilitate travel.
