The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chengdu supports teaching of the Czech language in Chengdu

The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chengdu delivered materials for teaching of the Czech language to the Department of Slavic Languages at Chengdu Institute Sichuan International Studies University.

Since autumn 2018 more and more students have been learning the Czech Language at Chengdu Institute of Sichuan International Studies University. Currently, more than 50 students in 2 classes study the Czech language. The number of Czech students as well as interest in the Czech Republic itself has been increasing since then and the university expects this trend to be continuing in the upcoming years.

On Wednesday, October 9th, 2019, the Consul Mr. Marek Zelinka visited the Department of Slavic Languages and delivered dozens of Czech language textbooks, Czech books, dictionaries, maps, etc. to the teachers.

At present, there are 3 teachers teaching the Czech language - one is a native Czech and two others are Chinese (Eva and Anežka). The ceremony was attended not only by the teachers but also by several Czech language students. They used this occasion for a short conversation with the consul when they could practice their knowledge of the Czech language learned during their lessons.
