The Czech Consul General, Mrs. Kateřina Vovková, visited the city of Neijiang in Sichuan Province

The visit took place on March 22-23, 2022 and Mrs. Vovková was accompanied by the Director of the CzechTrade Office in Chengdu, Mr. Michal Dúbrava.

The city on Neijiang profits especially from its strategic location, as it lies halfway between the cities of Chengdu and Chongqing. It is therefore located in the middle of two economically connected industrial and biotechnological giants.

The visit took place after the invitation of the Vice-Mayor of Neijiang, Mr. Chen Jianjun, to whom the Czech Republic is very close. In the past, he acted as the Deputy Ambassador at the Chinese Embassy in Prague and speaks excellent Czech.

The representatives of the Consulate General attended several meetings with local government representatives and in addition visited factories and headquarters of companies that are important to the city´s economy. Introduced were for example Jinhong Crankshaft, a company that produces crankshafts for all types of vehicles, including trucks and agricultural vehicles; the biotechnology company Huiyu Pharmaceutical, which develops and manufactures anti-cancer drugs; and Tranvic, one of the largest steel companies in China.

During the visit, it was clearly visible that the developing region of southeastern Sichuan presents opportunities for investment by Czech companies operating in China. One such opportunity may be the planned construction of a new airport. The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chengdu will further develop the cooperation with Neijiang, a city of 3 million inhabitants, not only in the economical direction, but also in the cultural one.
