Consul General visiting Kansas City

On December 3rd and 4th 2019, Consul General Jaroslav Kantůrek visited Kansas City. He was received at the town hall by mayor David Alvey and accompanied by honorary consul Sharon K. Valášek he also visited the National Memorial of the First World War. Together they opened the exhibition „1989 through the eyes of photographers“ in the Municipal Library and in the crowded hall of the library they participated in screenings and discussions for the film “November”.

 

Business opportunities and investment opportunities in agriculture and construction have been discussed with the Mayor of Kansas City and the Governor of Wyandotte County, Mr. David Alvey, in particular in the field of revitalizing industrial buildings and alternative energy sources for green living. Accompanied by the director of the World War I National Memorial, M.C. Naylor, the Consul General also looked at the permanent exhibition and discussed other options for cooperation with this major American museum.

On December 3rd, 2019 an exhibition commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution was opened at the Municipal Library and the film "November" was screened with the participation of  an American producer Jeffrey Brown. The screenplay was written by Arnošt Lustig. The movie screening and discussion with students at the University of Kansas took place on December 4th.  During his stay, the Consul General also met the chairman and members of the Czech and Slovak Club of Kansas City.
