18th Annual European Union Film Festival

Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N. State Street) will be presenting the 18th Annual European Union Film Festival, the largest showcase in North America for the cinema of the European Union nations. GSFC will present Chicago premieres of over 60 new films from 26 EU countries from March 6 through April 2, 2015. The Czech Republic will be represented by HANY (U.S. premiere) and NOWHERE IN MORAVIA (DIRA U HANUSOVIC).

A would-be poet takes to tne soapbox in a crowded hangout for the ill-timed performance that bookends this comedy-drama set one night in atmospheric Pilsen. Director Samir takes a bravura approach to storytelling with a film shot almost entirely in a single take.

A deep vein of ironic humor underlies this character study of a Czech village.
